Beginning Cold Process Soap Making Classes

Have you ever wanted to learn how to make your own soap? The advantages are numerous, including the fact that you will KNOW exactly what is in your soap, you will save money and you can create any type of soap you want, just to name a few. 

We will start with a 2 hour demonstration; ingredients, additives, colorants and fragrances will be explained as well as safety, techniques, molds and all the basics of getting started. 

The demonstration will be Saturday November 20th from 10 am to noon. Class times will also be from 10 am to noon for the next 4 weeks on Saturdays.

November 27 - Class 1:  Introduction. History of soap, safety, differences in oils, handling lye, using fragrance oils or essential oils, colorants and molds. Learn about cutting and curing. Each student will make a basic soap.

December 4th - Class 2:  Using additives such as clays, exfoliants, moisturizers and liquids, overview of different design techniques and learning all about trace. 

December 11th - Class 3:  Practice a new technique such as a hanger swirl, Taiwan swirl, funnel pour, in the pot swirl, pointy layers, ombre layers, pipe swirl or zig zag swirl.  

December 18th - Class 4:  Using impression mats, soap dough, embeds and embellishments. 

 All equipment will be provided, including apron, gloves, safety goggles and all soap making ingredients and equipment. Please wear closed-toe shoes and long sleeves. Up to 6 students may enroll. 

Costs: Demonstration $10, 4 week course $100.
